 What is Building Community. Growing In Christ?
Building Community. Growing In Christ is the capital campaign to raise $1.2 million over the next three years. These funds will be used to build a new and expanded fellowship hall, new classroom/study/meeting space, and a larger fully functional kitchen. Some of the funds will also go toward refurbishing the front of the church including the existing narthex, offices, and classroom space.
For Plan A, why can’t we build a new sanctuary first, before expanding the fellowship hall? Building the education/fellowship phase first immediately adds the essential program space required to support our growing ministry. An expanded fellowship hall and gymnasium will also provide adequate room for worship while a new sanctuary is being built during Phase 2. These expanded facilities will support our near-term growth as we continue to deliver on other aspects of our vision.
$1.2 million. Is this a realistic goal? Through detailed interviews and research, the professionals at Kairos believe $1.2 million is attainable. We give because God first gave. God’s love and sacrificial giving are contagious. Yes, this is a realistic goal. We invite all to take time to prayerfully stretch what you will commit to, as a faith-filled steward. The opportunity and challenge to impact our community for Christ is such an awesome privilege and responsibility – how can we not move forward?
How long will this campaign last? The Building Community. Growing In Christ capital campaign is a three year campaign. Your response card will give you the option on how to configure your gift. Some will give one large gift up front, while others will give a designated amount each week for the three year period. It is a special gift, over and above your regular pledge to the congregation.
How does my gift to this campaign affect my annual giving to Community in
Christ? Your pledge and gift for the capital campaign is separate from your annual stewardship giving. Any gift to Building Community. Growing In Christ is over and above your annual stewardship gift. The expenses of the annual operating budget are ongoing and basic for our church’s present ministry. Your pledge to the capital campaign allows our ministry to grow. Remember, you will be asked to make both your capital campaign and regular stewardship commitments on December 9, Commitment Sunday.
May I give something other than cash? Such as stocks, real estate, or other gifts? Of course you can! You are encouraged to think of assets in addition to a cash pledge. For many people, this is the best (and smartest) way to give. Giving stocks or securities, real estate, personal property or other appreciated assets as a charitable donation is beneficial to you and the church. If you think you would benefit from more information on this topic, ask a member of the capital campaign, church council or call the office.
What are the upcoming Building Community. Growing in Christ events? The official “kick-off” and “launching” of the congregational phase of CIC’s 3 year capital campaign takes place on November 4 with a special focus on the campaign theme verse. We’ll keep telling the exciting story of God’s blessings leading up to Commitment Sunday on December 9 when we will celebrate and announce the gifts and pledges that will fuel our continued growth!
Will I be asked to make a pledge on Commitment Sunday? Every member of Community in Christ is asked to give prayerful consideration to a 3 year pledge towards the Building Community. Growing In Christ giving goal of at least $1.2 million dollars. Soon, you will receive a giving guide and additional information to help you in your consideration of a sacrificial gift over and above your current giving levels. The emphasis is on “equal sacrifice” not “equal gifts” and every gift will be valued and appreciated. Every member is asked to return both a capital campaign and regular stewardship commitment on December 9, Commitment Sunday.
