To address our space challenge we have developed a two phase construction plan. Phase 1 includes the build out of educational, administrative, and fellowship/recreation areas. Phase 2 will focus on needed sanctuary space for 300-400 worshipers and a narthex area.

Building the education/ fellowship phase first adds the essential program space required to support our growing ministry. An expanded fellowship hall and gymnasium will also provide adequate room for worship while a new sanctuary is being built during Phase 2.

These expanded facilities will support our near-term growth as we continue to deliver on other aspects of our vision.

Plan B

We are also looking at a second approach. We call it Plan B.  This is a different option that may allow us to  build a Sanctuary and get most of the Expanded Fellowship area at the same time for a cost that is similar to Plan A.

We are in the early investigation stage for this plan, but the prospects look promising. A rendering of what Plan B might look like is below.

Details about Plan A   (2 Phased Approach)

A New and Expanded Fellowship Hall
The cornerstone of the Phase 1 construction is an expanded and completely renovated fellowship hall. This new facility, dubbed the Family Life Center, will be twice the size of the current fellowship area with some significant improvements.

This multipurpose facility will be flexible, open, inviting, and able to support multiple ministries throughout the week. The Family Life Center will be built with exceptional sounds, lighting and acoustics. With durable flooring and an open design, this flexible facility will have the ability to be quickly transformed to support congregational and outreach gatherings, arts and music programs, and recreation. Additionally, as desired, it will be equipped with the ability to provide a worshipful and welcoming environment for weekend services.

New Classroom, Study and Meeting Space
Our first inroads into a dual story facility will result in 4 new, well equipped and furnished classrooms with approximately 2,400 additional square feet of classroom and meeting space. That will nearly double our existing classroom space! Some areas of possible improvements are:

  • Getaway space for our growing Youth Ministry! Possibility a “special” wi-fi enabled classroom for our most web savvy youth and adults.
  • Audiovisual systems to be able to hear and even view worship services from classroom areas, as well as for classes and presentations using video or computers.
  • Larger whiteboards for presentations and brainstorming.
  • Overall more and better meeting spaces for small and medium-sized groups.

A Larger Kitchen
Where is the heart of a church home, if not the kitchen? Our expansion plan would not be complete without addressing the need for an improved kitchen where meals can be prepared. Of course, we have limitations to being able to build a fully commercial kitchen. However, we intend to create an 1,200 square foot expanded kitchen where large meals can be prepared for ourselves, outreach gatherings, and for those in need. Wishes for the kitchen include:

  • Plenty of room for cooks and pot-washers! We will double the size of our current kitchen.
  • A commercial grade dishwasher and appliances
  • State of the art coffee brewing equipment
  • Heavy duty electrical wiring
  • Possible washer and dryer for kitchen towels and table cloths

Upgrade Existing Offices and Narthex Area
The existing sanctuary, offices, and classroom space in the original phase of our church was constructed in 1977. While we have done a good job of keeping the space maintained over the past 30 years, more recently it has become apparent that a few improvements to this existing space are required.

Phase 1 will include some light construction, new office furnishings and carpeting in this part of the church. The offices, choir space, and the lectionary will be upgraded with more functional furnishings and cabinetry. Carpeting will be replaced through out and we will also improve the Narthex area to make it more usable as a place to gather before and after worship in our existing facility.
