There is no question that our faith community and associated ministries are growing at a rapid rate. Since arrival of Pastor Carl Yost in 2001, members attending worship has shown a dramatic increase of 61%, from 143 in 2000 to 231 in 2006. This year CIC welcomed Pastor Travis Norton as an associate pastor, and we have made significant progress toward enhanced worship, music, adult, youth, and children’s ministries. Each day more and more members of our faith community step forward to take visible leadership roles in these expanding areas of ministry. As a result, Community in Christ has become a busy place of activity and worship.
Because of our growth, Church Council and Staff are planning and making decisions to ensure that the church has adequate facilities to accommodate both our immediate and expected ministry needs. Specifically, Community in Christ has engaged Kairos & Associates to facilitate our strategic planning process. Over the next several weeks we will be presenting the details of Phase 1 (of a two-phase construction plan) of our capital campaign – Building Community, Growing In Christ. Phase 1 facilities alone will provide over 9,000 square feet of expanded and renovated space to support CIC ministries. These expansion plans will not only provide the room that is already critically needed for our growing programs and staff, but will also enhance CIC’s presence in the community and allow the exciting growth of our congregation to continue.
